Pretend They Are Dead

I have spent 40 years carrying the burden of being the single witness to a devastating car crash and rescuing a bloodied stranger. Just a teenager, the shock of learning his identity and wondering if he knew I rescued him was a question never answered…until now..

Miserable childhoods may make for interesting stories, but they’re no fun to live. Pretend They Are Dead, is the story of an adopted boy facing two abusive fathers, becoming a father himself, and then, as a trial lawyer representing abused children and children of firefighters killed on 9/11. It follows his journey as his father abandons him, goes through adoption with seven children in one house. He was dragged to Sarasota Florida as a senior in high school and stopped going to class. He did make it to Tallahassee where he went to work for the Seminole/Miccosukkee Indian tribes and got kicked out of FSU. While there, he was hit by a spiritual force urging him to understand that self-help means you must help yourself.

This forthcoming memoir reads like a true crime book. It contains sex, violence, redemption and the story of a determined young boy fighting his way to committing his life to helping others.
